History: Beecher’s Island Presbyterian Church and the Methodist Episcopal Church began congregations in the mid-1800’s in the town of Nelson. In the 1970’s the town of Nelson and some of the surrounding areas were part of a federal initiative to provide flood protection for communities to the east and south. This life changing event motivated both denominations to combine efforts, move one church building and co-locate under one roof.
From the late 1970’s through May 2023, the church was part of both the United Methodist and Presbyterian denominations. In 2023, the church became a fully Presbyterian Church, unifying our congregation even further.
